To evaluate the bioequivalence of two formulations of levetiracetam (LEV). LEV (40 mg under fasted and 120 mg under fed conditions) was administered to 18 healthy volunteers (nine females and nine males) in a randomized, two-period, parallel-design, open-label, single-dose, two-way crossover study. The 2- and 3-point visual analogue scores, the area under the curve of plasma concentrations of LEV (AUC), maximum plasma concentration (Cmax), time of maximum plasma concentration (Tmax), tissue distribution and elimination of LEV in plasma and tissue were selected as the parameters for bioequivalence evaluation. The 90%-confidence intervals of the point estimates (AUC, Cmax, Tmax, tissue distribution and elimination of LEV in plasma and tissue) for test and reference formulations were in the acceptable bioequivalence range of 80.00 - 125.00%. As a subjective evaluation, 90% of the subjects rated both formulations as 'good' or 'excellent'. The bioequivalence of the two formulations has been confirmed. d2c66b5586
