More recently, in August 2019, Russian officials confirmed news about radioactive dispersal, presumably resulting from the explosion of a nuclear-powered missile in a series of tests conducted by the Russian Navy in the Arkhangelsk region. At least five people were killed and several seriously injured while the level of radiation in the area peaked at 4-16 times normal levels.
Weapons are the means of defending yourself within the Isle. Some are common while others are quite rare. Weapons can be found anywhere items appear on the map, with certain weapons appearing more often than others depending on their loot tier. All weapons have a set amount of ammo that cannot be refilled unless Ammunition Crates containing that specific weapon's ammo are found and deployed. Weapons can kill players and mercenaries while only scaring off the Monster, as it cannot be killed.
Weapons that fire multiple rounds in a single volley have the ability to queue other targets by clicking them while aiming or firing. If the first target is killed mid-volley, the weapon will switch to other targets and repeat this in the order they were queued until the volley finishes or no targets are alive.
The Strogg invaded Earth in the mid-21st Century in search of biological components. Though at first they gained the advantage, the humans rallied and defeated them in a long and bloody conflict. The humans then invaded Stroggos and the Strogg were forced to defend their homeworld. A lone marine destroyed their main planetary defense system, the \"Big Gun\", and killed their leader, an entity known as the Makron. However, they were resilient and regrouped, constructing a new and more powerful Makron. After this, the humans learned of the Nexus, a system that coordinated the Strogg Communications Network. After a series of daring operations they destroyed it, crippling the Strogg's tactical and strategic chances of victory because this disorganized them, though they still possessed an army billions strong and continued to fight the humans. In the second human invasion the Strogg also lost many facilities essential to their existence, chiefly the Strogg Medical Facilities where they renewed their ranks with Tactical Transfers, a particularly smart and elite unit, and the facilities that they used for creating stroyent, which is essential for lubricating and fueling them. The stroyent's pumping system, a massive heart, was also lost to the humans' hostile infiltration of their industrial complex. To make matters worse for the Strogg, their reconstructed Makron was killed by a rogue transfer named Matthew Kane along with the Nexus. Whether or not these operations have finally destroyed the Strogg war machine for good remains to be seen. One thing is certain: mankind's survival depends on the Strogg's defeat.
Harvesters themselves are powerful weapons, capable of taking on large numbers of enemies, and are virtually indestructible by most infantry weapons because of their specific anti-personnel purpose. Human infantry are taught not to attract the touch of a harvester at any cost, as such machines should only be faced by vehicles equipped with advanced anti-armor weaponry, such as mechanized walkers or hover tanks.
(The decomposition in Quake 4 is due to this game using the Doom 3 engine, id Tech 4, where demonic enemies burn away after being killed. This feature was not present in Quake II, which used id Tech 2.)
The neurocyte is implanted using a large hypodermic needle, driving it directly into the brain of a fully conscious subject at the last stage of stroggification. In human terms, the damage to the cerebral cortex during implantation would likely kill a subject, but Strogg technology (most likely nanites) has proven otherwise. Far ahead of human medical knowledge, the neurocyte cannot be removed by any forms of surgery. Immediately after implementation, the host gains access to the data purveyed by the data archive.
On the other hand, the presence of English signage on Stroggos, as depicted in Quake II and Quake 4, would suggest that the Strogg do use written English. Another possibility is that some humans, including the invading Marines, have learned the Strogg language, at least in its written form, and it is being \"translated\" into English for the player -- a supposition which may be supported by the alien-looking font used for the English on Stroggos, intended to imitate the shape of the \"real\" Strogg script. Note that some Strogg, having been processed from captured humans, do speak English -- for example, the Berserker growls \"Trespasser!\" or the Iron Maiden snarls \"Traitor!\" or the Gladiator utters \"A traitor!\" upon spotting the player, and the Strogg in Quake 4 also taunt the human soldiers in English. Some of the other Strogg troops yell out non-English words (such as \"Hito!\", Japanese for \"A man!\", by some Guards). Perhaps in compensation for the readable signs in Quake II, Quake 4 goes further by still using English in Strogg signs but disguising the letters into forms that are barely readable and need practice to interpret (see the chart to the right).
Strogg society is marked by brutality and savagery without parallel. The biggest and strongest Strogg are automatically the ones with higher authority. The most superior Strogg gain the title of Makron and have absolute power over the Strogg civilization or society. Larger and more powerful Strogg have little respect for their weaker brethren, with many a light tank killing or trampling lesser Strogg foot-soldiers if they get in the way. Unique powerful Strogg function as guardians and act as subordinates to the Makron, such as the Tower Guardian which was tasked with the outer defense of the three security stations surrounding the central Strogg Nexus tower.
The Strogg conduct cruel experiments on captured humans. Though most captives are sent to stroggification, there are those who are much more unlucky. They are sent for mortality tests. Various organs are removed by scientists without the use of any anesthetic, because Stroggs study the pain of their victims and their body's response. Also, they want to ascertain how long a human can last without certain organs. This torture is long and horrific. Driving the victims to insanity and inevitably death. The Strogg have no concept of ethics in their medical research and will do anything to anyone if they think it can help them develop the stroggification process more, advance their own medical capabilities, or enhance their weapons to kill more efficiently.
The Strogg possess overwhelmingly superior technology to humans. Possibly, their most advanced technology is the use of wormholes to travel massive distances, which they used to bridge their assault on Earth originally. Also, the Strogg can utilize a similar technology: teleporters. The teleporters are specially made only to transport Strogg and kill humans that use them, unless they have been stroggified. This may be a security feature where the teleporters recognize Strogg codes or it may be a result of Strogg physiology itself. The teleportation technology has been refined so much that lone Strogg infantry can use it. Also, teleportation spawning grenades are deployed by certain Strogg units such as the Strogg guard dogs or the Makron itself.
Currently, OFP does not have any AP (anti-personnel) mines. However, these can be simulated using scripts available at OFPEC. Even better, the Chain of Command (CoC) Mod has an excellent mine addon that is chock full of AP mines. So step on it and download their CoC Mines addon now!
However, there is a script that allows you to target the scud anywhere on a map and launch it. It has a \"SCUD CAM\" that lets you follow the scud down to its target. The explosion consists of a series of smaller explosions, something like a cluster bomb. Since it is a script, you're going to have to make a mission with it or find a mission that employs it.
If you try lobbing both grenades out in front of you and crawl behind the smoke screen to either attempt to escape or to shoot the Russian, he will spot you nevertheless and kill you with dead accuracy.
Aside from the two decorative-only cannons at coordinates HE77 and HE76 on Everon, OFP doesn't come with any but there are unofficial addons for mortars. Also, there are artillery bombardment scripts that simulate barrages. Check the popular addon and editing sites for these.
Qwark: The radar display in the bottom-right corner of the screen shows the position of nearby teammates and enemies. Press R3 or select at any time to call up a full screen map of the level. If you are killed in a multiplayer game you will respawn on the battlefield after a few seconds. You can choose to respawn at any node controlled by your team or at your main base.
Sometimes referred to as kinetic impact projectiles, less-lethal ammunition includes bean bags (nylon sacks filled with lead shot), so-called rubber bullets that actually are tipped with foam or sponge and paintball-like rounds containing chemical irritants. Velocity and range vary greatly, but they can travel upwards of 200 mph. The rounds were developed to save lives by giving police a knock-down option that can disable threats from a safe distance without killing the target.
Los Angeles police turned to bean bags as an alternative to live ammo after 1992 rioting triggered by the acquittal of officers who beat a Black man named Rodney King. As violence swept the city, police at first hunkered down, doing little to maintain order, then launched an aggressive crackdown. Ten people were killed by officers.
By 2015, amid a national controversy over police killings, Los Angeles police leaders were touting less-lethal weapons as part of a kinder, gentler approach. The agency in 2017 adopted a progressive policy requiring officers to try de-escalation tactics before opening fire.
In the aftermath of George Floyd demonstrations, that report was updated this month. But wording on less-lethal weaponry remained the same: It urges police to ban martial arts weapons such as blackjacks and nunchucks, but avoids a recommendation on less-lethal projectiles, leaving decisions to individual agencies. 59ce067264
